So I've decide my next big push will be to get back on the bicycle of character modelling with a few "Best of Blender" tutorials I've found.  I'll have to get used to sub-surface modeling since I did most of the older stuff in splines. and patch modeling.  I mostly used Sub-surface modeling on mechanical objects, so it isn't alien to me, and these tutorials are seeming very helpful.

Garden of cubes

0 min read
So I finally got that cubic garden done.  My first representation of inherited variance was a success.  I haven't even had the time to full explore the little world of blocks that was created but the shots I found were pretty neat.  Now I've got other thoughts in my head. Where should I take it next?  Should I try metaballs instead of cubes?  Less raytrace-reflections maybe?  Should I throw in some obstacles to watch what happens when two halves of the population can't exchange genes?  Maybe implement the Selection Pressure class in the population simulator? So much to do.  And I'm actually feeling motivated to do it.  Maybe I will be able

Work's been keeping me real busy lately, but I finally got a few days of free time.  A good chunk of the python code for setting up the basic inheritance simulations on my next piece is done now.  I had planned to get that last weekend, but work had other plans for me that involved my whole weekend being eaten. Now it's break time to go take care of my fish tanks.  Then food, then maybe a bit more on the inherited variance project.
